* No fireworks for ‘Mankatha’ music launch

The event of the petite beauty Trisha Krishnan and Thala Ajith Kumar's Mankatha audio release is going to be a low-key affair.

It looks like action star Ajith wants to keep everything about his 50th movie low-key. Can’t really blame him because everyone and everything associated with Mankatha has sounded loud! Ever since the movie was formally launched last August, it has made news for several wrong reasons and a few right ones.

First it was Gautham Menon who signed Thala for the movie but dropped it when Ajith decided to quit movies and take to F-2 racing. Thereafter, Venkat Prabhu took charge and thus began a game of musical chairs with several actors accepting and then rejecting the role. Till Ajith finally agreed to do it. Now we hear that the music launch of Mankatha too has been planned as a low-key affair. There would be no event, no fireworks and no photo ops. The CDs will just roll into the music stores with Sony Music already organising a pre-launch booking offer. The movie is reportedly based on a betting scandal around the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a host of stars led by Ajith. Arjun, Trisha, Andrea Jeremiah, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali and Premji Amaran essay key roles.
