Breathtaking Britain: Glorious landscapes of the Peak District are captured in awe-inspiring images

Awesome beauty: An early morning view of the Peak District taken from Mam Tor overlooking the Hope Valley as the sun rises in the sky

It looks like an eerie scene from another world as the sun rises in the sky. But this breathtaking image shows Britain in all its glory.

A stunning collection of pictures taken by Ben Hall, one of the foremost professional wildlife photographers, lays bare a host of awesome landscapes in the Peak District.

He has captured the wild vistas of one most beautiful parts of the country - a world he knows like the back of his hand since he lives on the edge of it.

When he sets out on a photoshoot Ben has a very clear idea what he wants to capture that day and will wait patiently for the right image.

He said: 'I spend quite a lot of time on days when the weather isn't great just doing a recce of different locations. Quite often I like to go out when it's stormy. Then you're waiting around for that brief moment when the sun breaks through the clouds.

'It can last for just a few seconds but you've waited two hours for it. It's all about finding those few moments when everything comes together.'

Ben's favourite time to take a picture is dawn and he sometimes camps out to be in the right place at the right time.

Beautiful dawn: Chrome Hill in the Peak District. 'All the effort is worthwhile when you get the one perfect shot,' says Ben

End of the day: Derwent Edge at dusk with flowering heather in the foreground. Often Ben goes to the same places to shoot during different seasons

'All the effort is worthwhile when you get that one perfect shot, ' he said. 'I find I get the best pictures from places I go to time and time again - visiting during different seasons because the landscape changes so much.'

One of Ben's favourite locations to shoot from is Mam Tor overlooking the Hope Valley. 'At a certain time of day you get this fantastic cloud inversion - so you're literally right above the clouds'.
