Age-defying: Jane Fonda looked nowhere near her 73 years as she went out to lunch today wearing leggings and thigh-high boots that left little to the imaginationShe may be 73, but while her contemporaries are shuffling around in fluffy slippers, Jane Fonda was sporting a pair of thigh-high boots today reminiscent of the pair she wore in the sci-fi fantasy flick Barbarella more than 40 years ago.
Looking as good as a woman a third of her age, she was spotted out in New York City City wearing an unforgiving pair of leggings and towering suede tan boots.
Despite her incredible figure, the star has revealed she has long battled with her own self image, partly due to her relationship with her father, actor Henry Fonda.
Fonda is currently in the Big Apple promoting her new book, Prime Time: Love, Health, Sex, Fitness, Friendship, Spirit — Making the Most of all of Your Life.
She appeared on the Today Show with Matt Lauer this morning and spoke about her decision to have plastic surgery.
The star, who is a notable political activist, has earned two Academy Awards during her long career which has seen her star in film hits including Coming Home and Klute.
It was the 1968 science fiction spoof Barbarella however, directed by her French film director husband Roger Vadim, that established her status as a sex symbol.
She's still got it: Fonda gets an affectionate goodbye from a friend after lunchFonda, an '80s fitness guru, also said that what she learned about the role exercise plays in aging while researching her new project 'just blew me away.'
'It’s important to exercise when you’re younger,' she said. 'But it’s like the number one ingredient for successful aging. It makes a difference for all aspects of your life and your body.
'I’m happier now than I was before,” Fonda said. “That’s not exactly what I expected at 73.'
