To find the perfect untouched location for their films, stars such as Venkakesh, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan Tej and Jr NTR, are on a globe trotting binge with a vengeance this year. Some T-town stars such as Naga Chaitanya, Prabhas and Ram have a zest for capturing picturesque overseas locales and have shot at some breath-taking locations in countries like Istanbul, Sri Lanka, Australia and China besides much-explored locales in Europe, Bangkok and Malaysia, just to give their audience a visual treat.
It’s not just about aesthetics and getting a foreign tag to the film that drives them to overseas hotspots, their decision is backed by sound economic sense too. Some producers spend as much as Rs 1 crore for each song!
Superstar Venkatesh, who shot a couple of songs with pretty Trisha in exotic locations in Canada for his film Bodyguard says, “Big commercial films demand richness and grandeur. So exploring a virgin setting for songs is quite a challenge. Being a travel buff, I find most of locations familiar making it even more difficult for me to pick the right spot. Although, I don’t mind revisiting a hotspot for a holiday, but when it comes to visually pleasing songs, I insist on untouched, new locations.”
Another superstar, Mahesh Babu, explored and filmed at a new overseas location in Istanbul for his smashing hit Dhookudu.
“Mostly, the script determined the locations and the director elegantly captured the breathtaking city of Istanbul and filmed a racy number in a nearby exotic desert to add colour to our film,” he said.
Even his colleague Ram Charan Tej had tough time spotting new locales for his action flick Rachcha and travelled all the way down to Sri Lanka and now has zoomed off to China to offer visual treat to his fans.
“There is no match to scenic beauty of Sri Lanka and its exotic beach terrain gives you a new high”. While, hotshot Ram and Tamanna returned from Europe after shooting few songs. Aren’t locations in Europe much exposed in T-town? “You would be surprised to know that there are many virgin locales and we tapped it,” he says.
