When Gautham Menon announced Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya lead cast, everyone in the industry said: “Trisha looks like Silambarasan’s sister. Who will watch this film?”A few months later when the film released and slowly turned out to be a sleeper hit, the same people said- “VTV is a cute film. What worked big time was the chemistry between Simbu and Trisha”
This was the start of a new generation of pairing that could well determine the success formulae in times to come. Star pairing makes a film work big time with the audiences. In fact; it was the “connect” between STR and Trisha that made VTV a huge success.
Though STR is younger to Trisha in real life, they became an unconventionally good looking pair with great charisma and energy.
Just like Raj Kapoor-Nargis, Dharmendra-Hema Malini, Dilip Kimar- Madhubala, Kamal-Sridevi, SRK- Kajol- this pair too caught the imagination of the viewers.
Recenty we saw the baby faced Ranbir Kapoor paired up with a more mature Konkana Sen in Wake-up-Sid, which audiences lapped up. Even today, when VTV songs are played on TV, we are hooked to the lovely pair.
Sify.com quizzed both Trisha and Silambarasan on what did the trick and will they ever come together for another film?
Trisha- “ Thanks to Gautham that the chemistry between us worked. Of course I would love to work with Sim (Silambarasan) if a right subject comes through. I know that there will be lot of expectation from our pairing and hope a good director taps it again”.
Silambarasan-“ I would love to work with Trash (Trisha) again. We are a success pair and (smiles) a good looking pair too. So what’s wrong in it ? If the perfect script comes around, I’m game to do another film with her.”
Let us hope that the magic of VTV will be recreated by the lovely pair of STR and Trisha.
