Angela Chang On Family Scandal
Angela Chang is opening up her feelings on her family scandal.
The singer accepted a magazine interview lately and talked about her family issues again. She didn't think she did anything ungrateful.
"I don't do things that would hurt others. If I didn't do anything wrong, I absolutely won't cry for it," she says. "I'm not asking for everyone's sympathy if I cry. This is my persistence."
She feels very down when the whole world misunderstands her. She doesn't understand why it's her, but she faces everything with courage.
"You will never get the answer for it. I told myself at that time, 'You only have two choices: one is to avoid, the other is to face it.' I chose the second option. I know I need a lot courage to face myself, the media, and my family. But if I chose this, I won't be afraid. As long as I didn't anything wrong, I'll continue to walk, so I'll see a different angle of the matter."
These scandals are hard on Angela, but she learned about life and who actually treats her well.
"I know who would stay by my side, and encourage me not to give up. In this family, I always play the role of 'father.' My sister plays the role of 'mother.' We take care of our younger brother together. This is always how we take care of our family, even back in the day when we didn't have money. This is a responsibility."

Ella Chen Refuses to Kiss Daddy
It seems Ella doesn't like to interact that closely with her dad.
Ella brought her dad to a year-end party held by A-Mei's manager last night. The two proposed a toast to staff from the company and drank a lot. They didn't stay too late, leaving already at 10:30PM.
Reporters were waiting outside for them and asked Ella when she felt a little drunk. She skipped the question and generously introduced the man next to her was her dad.
Reporters then joked whether the S.H.E member could kiss her dad, and that totally surprised her. She was scared and tried to run away, but her dad, who lost his right arm at an accident many years ago, pulled her back and tried to kiss her on the mouth. Knowing she couldn't escape being kissed, she embarrassingly turned her face, only allowed her dad's lips on her face.
This simple family kiss of course didn't satisfied reporters. They even "complained" the two didn't french kiss.
Ella later explained why she felt awkward at that moment, even expose she does have something close interaction with her dad.
"I would feel embarrassed when I'm being photographed by many people. Otherwise, I actually love touching my dad's big belly in general."

Niki Chow Nervous About Filming New Drama
It's said Niki Chow is receiving a low pay from TVB when filming their dramas. The actress didn't deny nor confirm the report at an event she attended yesterday.
"I didn't read the report. But everyone knows I'm a low-income artist, so hope more people will invite me to different functions."
The event Niki attended yesterday was supported by her former boss from record company BMA. Niki just ended her contract with BMA but the two didn't seem to have a bad relationship with each other. She is thankful to his help these years, and cleared up she didn't signed management contract with TVB; only per-series contract.
Haven't film a television drama for a long time, Niki is a little nervous about it.
"I'll start working after Chinese New Year. I don't know why I'm nervous. Maybe it's because this is my first time filming an early-republic drama. I hope to film this drama well."

The Company Men
Ben Affleck appears to be on a nice little roll. He seems to be hitting his stride first as a director in Gone Baby Gone and the Town and as an actor in smaller fare like Hollywoodland. Honestly I've always liked the guy but it did appear for a while that it was getting to his head. It's nice to see him back in good character driven stories like Company Men. Director John Wells got some of the best character actors in the business to be in the film with solid actors like Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Cooper and Maria Bello. I also really enjoyed Craig T. Nelson and Rosemarie DeWitt. Craig plays a great jerkwad boss who is completely unaware of the suffering of his employees, and worse he probably could care less. And Rosemarie De Witt isn't in as many scenes as she should be but her presence was felt always. The film was in some senses a less depressing version of Up In the Air, or to put it more bluntly it follows the poor saps that George Clooney was firing. I was skeptical of the film at first especially when I saw John Wells name attached. If you know anything about Wells and his TV background you'll know that he had a hand in two of my favorite shows West Wing and E.R. but he also had a bad habit of over the top melodrama; Think E.R. when the tank came to the hospital or a hostage crisis in the E.R. Now I'm not saying he masterminded these episodes himself but he was executive producer and both shows seemed to suffer from this problem from time to time especially during sweeps week. So given this dubious background I was concerned that this problem would carry over to his feature directorial debut. I can happily tell you that it doesn't happen and in fact it really captures the Corporate culture and all of it's terrible faults accurately without banging you over the head with it.
A low level Corporate salesman, for a shipbuilding firm is laid off and he struggles to put his life back together. Bobby Walker, (Ben Affleck) can't seem to adjust to not only losing his job but losing the perks that go with it, his Porsche and playing golf. It's almost sad watching him struggle in denial about what just happened and how he may have to adjust his lifestyle in order to pay the bills and support his family. The film also follows Phil Woodward (Chris Cooper), a middle aged man who finds himself on the chopping block, and his story is even more heartbreaking as he is only a few years from retirement. Chris Cooper gives another great performance as a man who has his dignity stolen from him in the most humiliating way possible. His age becomes a hurdle for him in job placement as he isn't given quite the golden parachute his kindly boss, Gene McLary (Tommy Lee Jones) is given. Tommy Lee Jones' character is hard to pin down he's a corporate guy living high on the hog but he does seem to have a sense of honor and he truly cares about the people under him. Its interesting watching him navigate through the impending doom of his company and hoping and waiting for him to do the right thing. The story takes direct aim at the current financial crisis and the out of touch Corporate culture that still continues to dominate our world in the worst ways possible.
It's an honest examination of the White Collar world in the 21st Century and I have heard some complaints about the ending being too happy, which personally I think is ridiculous. I think for those of us who work in any industry would like to believe and at least hope that someone from the upper management cares about the welfare of their employees beyond just paying them. That being said every time I felt like the movie was getting sappy or over the top they balance it out nicely. I even enjoyed the scenes where Bobby has to work for his brother-in-law in construction just to pay the bills. Someone should honestly tell Kevin Costner never to attempt a Boston accent, he didn't get it right on Thirteen Days and he certainly didn't again here. But at least he toned it down. So if you are caught up on all of your Oscar nominated flicks then you should see this little film, it's a good drama with some great performances.

She could be tired from busy filming, but Cecilia Cheung is not hesitate when doing good deeds.
The actress is currently filming in Inner Mongolia. There was one day she did not have work, so she decided to rest in her hotel room. When she looked out the window, she saw a girl standing on top of a building, trying to commit suicide.

The 30 year old's quick actions saved a life, and that is not the only good thing she has been doing. She once traveled back and forth from Hong Kong to Taiwan to visit a 15-year-old girl with cancer. Unfortunately, the girl passed away this month, making Cecilia has more thoughts about life.

TVB Actors Show Off Body During Filming
Time to show some skin.
Actors from upcoming drama "Flying Tigers" (tentative name) were filming a shower scene yesterday, including Him Law, Vincent Wong, Mr. Hong Kong William Chak, Benjamin Yuen, and Oscar Li. These guys did lots of push-ups before filming to "push" their chest out. But muscle man Him Law was actually a little embarrassed to film shower scenes in front of everyone.
"I never showered in front of this many cameras and people. Every parts must be connected, so I filmed this scene five times," he said.
Known for his 40-inches chest, Him praised other guys for being more muscular. Indeed, Oscar Li, who is more known for playing the Japanese solider in "No Regrets", has a 42-inches chest, beating all males on the set.
Vincent Wong, whose image is usually intellectual and stylish, lost 5lbs for his role and is eating lots of protein to build muscle. He even relates his diet to his dog.
"Now I'm only eating chicken and egg white, eating along with my dog!"

Deepika Padukone has played nice role in many films. but she is still in the learning process and is experiencing many new things which she has not come across during shooting in her past films. She has started working with Prakash Jha for his next film Aarakshan.. She almost felt nervous breakdown shooting in college in Bhopal for 'Aarakshan'. This is her first film with the director, Deepika was extremely nervous about the shoot.
Bhopal is foreign territory for Deepika. She has never shot for any film in the city before. Also, working with Jha was a first-time experience for her. His style of working is very different from the directors she's worked with in the past," quoted a source as saying.

Charmaine Sheh Focuses on Treating Her Arm
Although facing changes at work, but Charmaine Sheh promises to continue to work hard.
The actress was injured earlier, forcing her to temporarily stop working to treat her forearm. She has returned Hong Kong and yesterday was spotted going to the doctors for treatment. She seemed to be in good spirits, but was being very careful to avoid hurting her forearm again. When asked about her injury, she disclosed it got a little better.
Other artists might be busy attending to different celebration shows during Chinese New Year, but Charmaine has to rest.
"No big plans on Chinese New Year, must rest for a while," she said.
As for new boss Chan Kwok Keung to be in control of her company, Charmaine did not say much, stressing it is more important for her to rest at this moment.

Tavia Yeung Wants to be China's Evilest
Her new drama "The Rippling Blossom" is airing soon, but Tavia Yeung is filming in Mainland China now. The drama is airing during Chinese New Year, but she is not worried: "Ratings might be affected, but I'm not too worried. As long as it gets to release!"
After "The Mysteries of Love," Tavia already filmed four dramas, so she can go to Mainland now and earn more money: "This time I'm filming an ancient drama with Patrick Tam. I'm playing a villain, an evil female lead. This is my first time filming a Mainland drama. Renminbi [China's currency] here I come!"
Tavia once played a villain in "Beyond the Realm of Conscience," and this time she is playing a similar role. She said: "I want to see whether I can be eviler. Already that evil last time in Hong Kong, maybe there won't be another chance like this, haha! I want to be China's evilest!" She worried viewers would see her as a villain from now on, but after she saw Ron Ng plays a villain earlier in a Mainland drama, she understands Mainland viewers are quite reasonable on this.
First time invading the Mainland market, Tavia knows this is an important opportunity for her; she does not want to play plain roles anymore. However, she will not leave her 'home' TVB: "I'm very loyal to my company. I signed TVB forever!"

But sadly of course... only the New York City token h&m store will hold these items. So go enjoy, you Phis.

Blonde Ambitions Part III (The "Older does not mean old" Pt.1)
Blonde TV actresses that have grown up can also be ambitious. Some of them have fared better than others through those ambitions nevertheless...
Elizabeth Perkins as Celia Hodes in Weeds |
Celia is that neighbour we all want to have, don't we? If she is portrayed by Elizabeth Perkins I definitely want her close. She is so fun in the role (or was, I should say...) that even though in real life she would be annoying it is impossible not to love her on the show. Reading Elizabeth's Imdb page I only remember her in The Ring 2. (WARNING: Embarrasing story follows) I went to see The Ring 2 to the theatre (I had already seen the first one and I liked it) and in a magazine I had read that Sissy Spacek appeared in the film. It was curious because of her portrayal of Carrie in the homonymous film. Well, back then, I had not seen Carrie, and so I thought she was the actress playing the doctor in that scary needle scene (or was it a scary pair of scissors? Scary either way...). Yes, I thought Elizabeth Perkins was Sissy Spacek. And they do not look much alike actually...
Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo in Desperate Housewives) |
Felicity Huffman is the only woman on this post to have been nominated for a Best Actress Oscar. Even so, she is not the most succesful of the lot by far. Right now, she seems condemned to play Lynette Scavo forever. Not that she's not good at it but her storylines are lately the most boring ones. Plus, Tom Scavo is possibly the most annoying character ever to appear on television. Nevertheless she will always be able to say that she worked with Paul Thomas Anderson...
Julie Bowen as Claire Dunphy in Modern Family |
And we encounter the third housewife in a row, the one without a known job, the magnificent Claire Dunphy. To be honest I'm more on Team Gloria but since she is not a blonde... Not to worry because my love for Claire is also great. Julie Bowen entered my life as Jack's I-want-to-dance-at-my-wedding-wife in Lost. Then she was the MILF on Weeds that allowed us to see Silas' on action (the gif is very small but if you saw the scene, you will remember it). For her future, she is set to appear on Horrible Bosses playing Kevin Spacey's wife if I recall correctly. Playing the wife of Kevin Spacey in a Jennifer Anniston /Jason Bateman (The Switch was quite endearing) comedy might not seem much but less is nothing...
Kelly Rutherford (Lily Van Der Woodsen Bass Humphrey... in Gossip Girl) |
Lily could also be considered a housewife, only her chores consist on sitting at a table writing thank-you notes rather than kneeling to scrub the floors... I love Lily even when she is mean or has ulterior motives (once every two episodes) because Kelly's portrayal makes her so endearing... even when she's next to hateful-Rufus! Anyway Kelly has done a lot of films, a lot of TV and though her future seems to be solely occupied by Gossip Girl she will always be able to say that she was killed in a Scream film...Isn't that what every actress want?
Rosemarie DeWitt is Charmaine in "United States of Tara" |
THE CHEAT FACTOR: Yes, I know she is not a blonde but it's my party and I'll cry if I want to. Besides, Rosemarie's talent is too big to be overlooked. I think that picture is from Rachel Getting Married where she also played a woman outshined by her sister craziness. She brings so much life and wit into Charmaine that it is impossible not to love the self-absorbed bitch she is. As to her ambitions, she had a great role on Mad Men and was very well received though not near as much (in quantity) as she deserved for her Rachel. She plays Ben Affleck's wife or girlfriend or something (they are in bed in the trailer) in The Company Men. And I fondly remember her as Miranda's mean co-worker in a Sex and the City episode...
To be continued...
Oscar Nominations
Oscar Nominations were a day ago and writing this post I feel like I'm getting late to the party... Well, that's me! A turtle! Anyways, Oscar voters were good this year. Of course, some things were good, some were bad but I don't think any of those things was awful à la Blind Side last year...
Let's break those things down:
THE BAD
- No Andrew Garfield.
- No Mila Kunis.
- No Black Swan screenplay.
- No Black Swan in Costume Design.
It's good that all bad things are snubs and not horrific inclusions. Wait, I forgot:
- Tom Hooper: Is there anything more bland and generic than The King's Speech direction?
- Alice in Wonderland (it was butt-ugly and it was not intended as in Biutiful so... what is the achievement exactly?)
- The Best Song category. Let's hope this year they don't perform or Lauren Bacall will fall asleep...
THE HILARIOUS
- No Nolan in directing. Fanboys must be burning stuff...
THE GOOD
- A great array of ten nominees for Best Picture.
- Twenty respectable performances (of those I've seen HBC is the weakest one and she is good)
- Four auteurs in Best Director.
- The Way Back for Make-Up.
THE GREAT
- Exit through the Gift Shop.
- Dogtooth.
- The Social Network's score (and all the other seven nominations).
- I Am Love for Best Costume Design.
THE FANTABULOUS
- Black Swan's cinematography.
- Black Swan's editing.
- Natalie Portman.
- DARREN ARONOFSKY.
- Black Swan for Best Picture.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING
- Nicole Kidman for Rabbit Hole!!
Selina Ren's Face Without Make-up After Accident
Selina Ren before showing up at press conference |
Selina Ren made her first public appearance last week after explosion accident. Her parents once describe her face now is in red, just like Chinese historical figure Guan Yu, whose red face is his well-known feature.
A magazine photographed the S.H.E member before her press conference, showing her true face without make-up. Her face is partially shown as the bottom half of it is covered behind a red mask.
Selina's mood is not affected by the magazine report, and already knew she was being photographed. Her record company HIM explain the singer's face is not always that red, only when she exercises or gets emotional. They also clear up they only used an hour and a half to apply make up, not four hours like the magazine reported.
Been recovering these past months after the accident, it is rumored Selina would be back to work this year in June. But her record company stress this is only everyone's hope.
"This is our hope and encouragement for her," they say. "Establishing a goal can help her recover faster."

Louis Yuen Groups Twins with Michelle Lo Again
Once group as Twins (Gillian Chung & Charlene Choi) in variety show "Fun With Liza and Gods," Louis Yuen and Michelle Lo team up again in upcoming movie "I Love Hong Kong."
Because Louis resembles Michelle a lot when he dresses up as Big Ex in his show, the audience already see them as twins in real life. In movie "I Love Hong Kong," which is premiering on Chinese New Year, the two play the older version of twins Joyce Cheng and Kate Tsui (second photo) [the two are also said to be look-a-likes in some angles]. Male leads of the movie Tony Cheung and Eric Tseng want to go back and see how the twins are doing twenty years later.
However, the twins look so different compared to before. One of them (Louis) even greet the boys with 'her' top off. This part would definitely make the audience laugh hard.
