* Trisha's house becomes asylum for stray dogs

The diva of south films, Trisha’s love for animals, especially dogs, is a well-known fact. Her gracious gesture of saving stray dogs and providing them with shelter landed her the plum association with PETA, the largest animal rights organisation in the world as their Goodwill Ambassador for the Angel for Animals campaign.

The gorgeous actress who has just returned from a hectic two week shooting schedule in Canada for her Tollywood flick Bodyguard was in for a surprise the day she landed in Chennai. She noticed a carton outside her house near the gate and some strange sounds were coming out of it.

The VTV actress immediately called her mom Uma and both of them tried to check what was in the box.

Trisha was pleasantly surprised to find a small puppy, a mongrel, inside the cardboard box. “For a moment, I went speechless,” says Trisha to DC, speaking from Hyderabad.

She adds, “Someone had abandoned the few days old stray dog with injuries all over her body. Without wasting time, I cleaned her wounds and applied ointment wherever required. I also took her to a veterinary doctor and gave her a vaccination. We named her Pattu. Now, my concern is to find her a safe home. My mom has taken her to the ‘Adoption Campaign’ organised in the city on Sunday. I hope someone adopts her.”

Quiz her on how she feels about people leaving stray dogs outside her home — just like how abandoned children are dropped off at the Cradle Baby Scheme by CM Jayalalithaa.

She says, “It’s heartwarming to know that people have taken me into confidence and are leaving street dogs in front of my house.” Here’s hoping that the actress is always a Good Samaritan to all those puppies looking for a home.
